From the Publisher:
Throughout her studies, Ceony Twill has harbored a secret, one she’s kept from even her mentor, Emery Thane. She’s discovered how to practice forms of magic other than her own—an ability long thought impossible.

While all seems set for Ceony to complete her apprenticeship and pass her upcoming final magician’s exam, life quickly becomes complicated. To avoid favoritism, Emery sends her to another paper magician for testing, a Folder who despises Emery and cares even less for his apprentice. To make matters worse, a murderous criminal from Ceony’s past escapes imprisonment. Now she must track the power-hungry convict across England before he can take his revenge. With her life and loved ones hanging in the balance, Ceony must face a criminal who wields the one magic that she does not, and it may prove more powerful than all her skills combined.

The whimsical and captivating follow-up to The Paper Magician and The Glass MagicianThe Master Magician will enchant readers of all ages.

Review:

This is the third book in the Paper Magician series.  Book one and two were released last year, and The Paper Magician made it to my top picks list from my 100 books last year. The Glass Magician came out in November and then I had to wait SO long for this book to be released.  Okay, maybe it wasn’t that long, but it felt like it…one of the downsides of finding a good series when they haven’t all been released.

This book was fun and engaging and once I started it I had such a hard time putting it down!

I really liked the different magic forms introduced in this book.  I thought Ceony was a fun character to follow through the series.  She is so headstrong.  Sometimes I just wanted to shake my head at her, but she did things her way and always seemed to make it work. A great heroine. I think these books would be fun in movie form.  And I loved the little snippets about Ceony’s sister, I could see another book about her in the future.

It had a good, happy ending.  I could see more books with these characters in the future too.  It would be easy to continue the story.

If you have read A Great and Terrible Beauty I think you would enjoy this series.  And, if you haven’t read that series, maybe you should read both!  It also brought the book to mind, Shades of Milk and Honey.  These are all fun, magical/fantasy type books.

I love supporting young, new, local authors.  This book (the kindle version) also came with a chapter from Homberg’s next book, Followed by Frost.  It looks great too!  Can’t wait to read more from her in the future.
